AXIS GALLERY SEATTLE ART WALK

The walkability of Seattle’s Pioneer Square makes for a great art scene and every month a one night celebration connects all of the galleries and people.

For one such evening Sensebellum was invited to collaborate with AXIS Art Gallery resident artist, Sienna Dawn, for a showing of interactive mixed media installations in one the spaces’s largest rooms.

Sienna is a talented artist and had a number of original oil paintings around the space blending figures of the natural world through a chromatic kaleidoscope lens.

On either side were some Sensebellum original pieces featuring a duo of the The Sandbox of Life, a Microscopia, plus a sprinkling of creative lighting throughout.

In between was a collaboration featuring an uncanny effect of a 90º mirrored first surface mirror in a box with intricate laser cut relief. The illusion seamlessly flipped the perception of one’s reflection along the vertical axis so that your hand appeared on the other side of where it should be; i.e. text was readable in a mirror.

This peculiar and nuanced effect grew to great elation throughout the evening.

A special thank you AXIS Art Gallery Seattle for hosting and to Sienna Dawn for the invitation and curation.
