SOURCE MAUI FESTIVAL

The SOURCE Maui Festival is a gem of an interactive arts event held on the lush side of the island of Maui each spring.

In 2013, SOURCE was one of the first festivals Sensebellum was ever invited to exhibit at. The week on site set the bar for what possibilities can take shape at the nexus of art, technology, nature, and good times.

As a Burning Man regional event, SOURCE had a vibe all of its own. Included in the ticket purchase are all daily meals, water, plus room accommodations in a refurbished Y.M.C.A. facility.

The entire premises sprawled multiple acres with views of the jungle and ocean all around. Geodesic domes, themed campsites, and art installations filled out the rest as there was always something new to experience.

Another unique attraction was that the event was entirely user driven and interactive. There were stages, but no stage slots; you just showed up with an instrument and joined the party!

In the days leading up to the event the wonderful, magical, and classical Sensebellum art installation, The Sandbox of Life, was created.

It was such an exciting time between all the Franklin Talks, movement workshops, fresh coconuts, and free artistic exploration in the “Musearium” art gallery.

Eternal thanks again to Gabe Colors, Jerry Isdale, and the awesome team at SOURCE MAUI for the invitation and inspiration.
